Welcome to Brava Blog!

My heart is overflowing with excitement. Today marks the revelation of something incredibly dear to me.

Welcome to BRAVA.  You might be asking yourself - What is BRAVA?

BRAVA is a term used to praise female performance and is synonymous with "well done; very good; excellent". And that is the name I chose to call this blog. You know why?

Simply because I want to celebrate women. We are so under-valued, under-estimated, under-appreciated and so many unders that I envision this blog to be a dynamic community of like-minded women (and our men allies) sharing learnings and growing together.

This blog is a space crafted with threads of passion, vulnerability, and a huge desire to make meaningful connections with people who share similar experiences.

Every Friday, you will receive a new story. Each story will feature real-life examples portrayed by our fictional character Lila - may be a situation that happened at work with the boss or a fight someone had with their spouse, or the difficulties a mom faces everyday. As I navigate through my own experiences (and the experiences of others) to bring you these narratives, my hope is that you find echoes of your own story within these pages. As we debrief the stories I will also provide material suggestions such as podcasts, books, articles, movies, that will help you to dig deeper in a certain topic if you desire to. This exercise will hopefully inspire your own journey of self-improvement.

My vision is for women to feel empowered and supported at home and at work. I want us to leverage sisterhood and start conversations here that will spark discussions at home and at work so that the men in our lives (partners, colleagues, co-workers, friends, bosses, mentors) can be part of the solution for a more equal world.

Please add your comments, ideas and feedback. That way we can embark on discussions that will uplift our spirits and motivate us to learn and grow together. If you think your stories can help others, please reach out to me and Lila can display your real life examples without exposing you and the ones involved in your story.

Let’s celebrate women’s excellence and collectively explore actionable ways to overcome challenges, empowering each other on our professional and personal journeys.

With a lot of gratitude in my heart, I thank you for the support.

I will see you in the next post.

Luciane Carrillo
