Permission to Pause

Vulnerability, Game on!

Vulnerability is the emotion that we experience during times of uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure according to Brené Brown. Some examples of vulnerability include: going on a first date after a divorce, trying to conceive after a miscarriage or unsuccessful in-vitro fertilization treatment, discussing our feelings openly, starting our own business, watching our child leave for college, waiting for the doctor to call back with exam results, apologizing to our husband or friend for our words or actions, and giving or receiving feedback. The list could go on and on, but you grasp the essence of what vulnerability is. I'm sure you have experienced vulnerability in your own life.

I share all of this because the launch of this blog marks a peak of vulnerability for me. For those who know me, I'm not typically the 'social media' type. While my life is an open book to those I know personally, I tend to be quite private when it comes to the online world.

With that being said, I feel incredibly privileged and blessed by the experiences and knowledge I've gained throughout my life. Now, I've reached a point where I feel compelled to pay it forward. I want to share the lessons I've learned from these experiences with all of you, aiming to inspire and motivate you to persevere through moments when it feels like the world is against you.

The most significant lesson I've learned so far is that with proactivity, discipline, and determination, we can achieve anything. It doesn't have to be perfect. I'm still a perfectionist in recovery, but I've come to terms with striving for excellence while also learning to accept 'good enough.'

This blog is an experiment in embracing this new mindset. I promise to bring you the most impactful stories and settle for 'good enough' when life gets busy, my kids get cranky, and my body gets tired.

I hope you'll join me in embracing 'good enough.' Let's be brave, bold, and less critical of ourselves and each other. Let's learn and grow together.

With love,

Luciane Carrillo
